The employer gets:
- A salary-supplemented youth intern for 12 weeks
- A skilled and enthusiastic person to complete special projects that you might have put on hold.
- The opportunity to assist with the career development and knowledge of a young person through mentoring and guidance.
What ACCA provides:
- $9.40 per hour salary subsidy through a Service Canada grant.
- Pre-screening of youth applicants.
- Two-day orientation and career development training workshops for intern.
- Ongoing administrative and trouble-shooting support.
What hosts provide:
- The prevailing wage for the occupation (+benefits) salary subsidy.
- In-kind HR support.
- Mentorship and support to youth interns.
- The consideration of the intern to be hired after the internship is completed.
- Expose youth to the operations, management and principles of business.
- Help the interns gain an understanding of the role in which community-based organizations play in community economic development.
Salary
- The Host Organization is required to pay the prevailing wage for the occupation.
- Alberta Community and Co-operative Association will supplement $9.40 per hour over the 12 week period based on a 37.5 hour work week.
- The host employers will be expected to cover the total amount of mandatory employment related costs.
