Information for Employers

The employer gets:

  • A salary-supplemented youth intern for 12 weeks
  • A skilled and enthusiastic person to complete special projects that you might have put on hold.
  • The opportunity to assist with the career development and knowledge of a young person through mentoring and guidance.

What ACCA provides:

  • $9.40 per hour salary subsidy through a Service Canada grant.
  • Pre-screening of youth applicants.
  • Two-day orientation and career development training workshops for intern.
  • Ongoing administrative and trouble-shooting support.

What hosts provide:

  • The prevailing wage for the occupation (+benefits) salary subsidy.
  • In-kind HR support.
  • Mentorship and support to youth interns.
  • The consideration of the intern to be hired after the internship is completed.
  • Expose youth to the operations, management and principles of business.
  • Help the interns gain an understanding of the role in which community-based organizations play in community economic development.

Salary

  • The Host Organization is required to pay the prevailing wage for the occupation.
  • Alberta Community and Co-operative Association will supplement $9.40 per hour over the 12 week period based on a 37.5 hour work week.
  • The host employers will be expected to cover the total amount of mandatory employment related costs.
