Community-powered data science and data engineering virtual conference: YYC DataCon

COVID-19 exposed gaps in operations, inadequate infrastructure and hardware's limited ability to deliver during this crisis. It threw organizations a curveball - between dispersed work staff, policy and process changes, and possible governmental regulatory changes, things now look a lot different than they did ten months ago.

Ultimately, there will be a lasting impact on the way co-operatives operate. Absolute certainty is that even with COVID-19 in the rear-view mirror, the 'new normal' will likely include operational practices previously thought impossible. Keeping relevant is critical. The YYC DataCon might be the next conference for you to attend this March.

Alberta is experiencing an explosion in data science and technology. We're here to show the world how far we've come! Ben Reeves Cofounder, YYC Data Society

YYC DataCon is Alberta’s community-powered data science and data engineering virtual conference.

Focus on the areas you need help with

Unlike physical conferences where you can end up sitting through the content you just don't need, YYC DataCon is delivered entirely online. Dip in and watch the specific talks you need to transform your business or catch them all. It’s up to you!

WHAT TO EXPECT

TOPICS FOR ALL STAKEHOLDERS

DATA SCIENCE

Optimization. Model Architecture. Deep Learning.

From building your first statistical model to deep dives into the architecture of bleeding-edge research, our data science theme features topics for all skill levels.

New entrants and seasoned veterans alike will find talks to ignite their passion.

CULTURE

Advocacy. Team Development.

How do we go about building data science teams? How do we adopt a data culture in our organization, or strengthen one if we already have it? How can we attract and satisfy talent in the data science space?

These questions and more will be explored at the YYC Datacon

GOVERNANCE

Change Management. Privacy. Planning.

The economic landscape is changing and embracing data-driven paradigms. As these changes happen, the data industry needs to be proactive, not reactive in fields such as privacy, security, and governance. We will have content for all stakeholders in the data governance landscape, from engineers to executives.

DATA ENGINEERING

Data Ingestion. Stream Analytics. Edge Compute

The most sophisticated models can't do a thing without a great data pipeline that can ingest, distribute, and store your data at the scale you need.

At YYC DataCon we will explore the latest in distributed processing, working on the edge device, streaming analytics, and cloud computing for large and small datasets.
