Members - Identify Your Government Relations Priorities

Our government relations team has worked hard this last year advocating for the policies you voted for at the last Annual General Meeting. Now it is your opportunity to articulate your vision for policies that our team will to government in 2023.

This year, your organization has two ways to submit a policy:

  1. Craft a policy related to co-operatives using the Government Relations Member Policy Issue form, as done in previous years

  2. Select one of the policies ideas below that have been collected over the last year from various conversations and suggestions from co-operative members

Use this form, embedded in our website, to submit your proposal. No need to print things out and send them back! Need an example of a completed policy? Check out this sample. To see the policies approved by members at the 2022 AGM, please click here. There is no limit on the number of submissions, but we ask that you please complete one submission for each separate policy issue.

Deadline extended to Friday, April 14, 4:30 pm

Policy Ideas

  • The co-operative model should be taught in Alberta’s primary education system.

  • A tax credit should be created to provide relief for those that invest in co-operative education.

  • A tax exemption that benefits cooperatives (Example: an exemption on dividends provided to members).

  • The Alberta Government should appoint a Parliamentary Secretary responsible for co-operatives.

These policies have been collected over the last year through various conversations and interactions with co-operative members. Each one of these policies can be developed by your organization, or with Cole Kander, ACCA’s Manager of Government & Stakeholder Relations.

Please feel free to select any or all of the following policies to submit for the AGM. If you would like assistance to fill out the Government Relations Member Policy Issue form below, please contact Cole and he would be more than happy to assist you.
