Advocating for Alberta’s Co-operatives: Alberta Budget 2025
The Alberta Community & Co-operative Association (ACCA) is pleased to share the completion and submission of our 2025 Budget Proposal to the Alberta government this past month. This submission outlines our vision for strengthening Alberta’s economy by investing in the co-operative sector—a proven model for fostering innovation, creating jobs, and building resilient communities.
What’s in the Proposal?
Job Development: Strengthening the co-operative sector to create new opportunities and develop pathways for sustainable, community-focused employment.
Economic Growth: Demonstrating how co-operatives enable resilient, community-led development in key sectors, including agriculture, housing, technology, and energy.
Strategic Investment: Advocating for operational funding to expand ACCA’s capacity to provide vital services such as training, mentorship, and shared resources that empower co-operatives to succeed.
By investing in Alberta’s co-operative sector, the province can unlock new opportunities that align with its long-term goals for economic innovation and community-driven growth.
Why It Matters
Co-operatives are a cornerstone of Alberta’s economy, offering real solutions prioritizing shared success, equity, and sustainability. By supporting this sector, Alberta can unlock the full potential of co-operatives to address challenges in rural development, housing, and workforce needs.
Looking Ahead
This pre-budget submission marks an essential step in our advocacy efforts. As Alberta’s government considers its priorities for 2025, we are committed to ensuring the co-operative sector remains at the forefront of the conversation.
