Can you help the MCHB?

For such an amazing group that does so much to help so many, the MCHB’s asks to help them through this difficult time are relatively small – and they are a great opportunity for ACCA members to connect and help each other.

If you are able to assist with any of the following, please contact the MCHB at 780-423-1973 or email mchb@mchb.org.

Technology: do you have any unused cell phones and laptops/Chromebooks? The MCHB would like to re-purpose these for their community members to help with home schooling for kids and to help connect adults to online resources. The tech doesn’t need to be brand new but should be usable and appropriate for the current online environment.

Bulk Food: can you connect MCHB with affordable and reliable food resources? The need for food hampers has more than doubled and the MCHB is struggling to meet that demand. They use their funding to purchase foods in large quantities to create the hampers and need access to a reliable and affordable food stream.

Volunteer Support: MCHB is looking for people in the Edmonton area to help put together the food hampers for the community. Time commitment would be three to five hours per week on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Appropriate social distancing and hygiene measures will be observed to protect volunteers, MCHB team members, and the community.

Communications Support (volunteer): The MCHB broker colleagues have well-established and trusted relationships with the people in the 25 ethnocultural communities they serve. They want to build on this relationship by creating videos and other communications tools to help translate and share important COVID-19 information and resources with the community members and are looking for someone with a communications background to help develop these resources.
