Ensuring Alberta co-operatives have a voice at the table
Premier Jason Kenney has stepped down as UCP leader, and the party will select a new leader on October 6.
As an organization, we are seeking more significant avenues to increase our level of sophistication and presence at political forums. During leadership races, it is common for member associations to submit a series of questions related to their sector to all the candidates. This best practice is a prime opportunity for you and ACCA to raise awareness of the co-operative sector and receive feedback on the candidates' intentions for policies that may affect us.
Putting best-practice into action
On behalf of our members, a co-operative focused inquiry will be sent to all UCP leadership candidates from ACCA in the coming weeks. The candidates' answers, once compiled, will be released to ACCA's email list closer to the leadership election day.
What are your pressing questions?
You can see a list of sample questions here so you can see what type of questions we will be asking candidates. But it's missing your input - which is critical to the process.
Can you take a few minutes and provide a question or two? Your questions can be related to your organization, sector, and any policies you may be advocating for or pushing for co-operatives. Remember, our goal is to be seen - and considered.
If you would like to submit a question, please respond to this email with your question, and I will compile the final survey later this month.
Thank you for participating in this opportunity; please submit your questions by July 8. I look forward to your responses and developing a well-intentioned survey for the UPC leadership candidates.
