Peace Energy Co-operative Teams Up with CIS to Raise Capital for Solar Power Project
Peace Energy A Renewable Energy Co-operative (“Peace Energy Co-operative”) appoints Community Investment Solutions (“CIS”) to provide investment banking services to help raise capital for a multi-million dollar solar power generation project.
Joanne Dueck, President of Peace Energy Co-operative, said: “Raising capital is a key success factor in realizing our ambitions to develop the renewable energy resources in the Peace River area. We were impressed by the depth and breadth of expertise offered by CIS and are confident that they will significantly contribute to our success.”
Peace Energy Co-Operative was founded in 2003 in Dawson Creek, BC, to develop renewable energy resources in the Peace River area. After successfully developing the 100 MW Bear Mountain Wind Park Project in 2009, Peace Energy is now embarking on developing a 5 MW solar power project near Peace River, AB. In addition to these renewable energy development projects, Peace Energy provides residential/community solar design, supply, and installation services.
CIS is a project by the Alberta Community & Co-operative Association that aims to help co-operatives and other community-based businesses in Western Canada raise capital by providing integrated financial services. Currently, the services offered are restricted to non-regulated services. The Government of Canada supports the project financially through Prairies Economic Development Canada (PrairiesCan), as well as Peavey Industries LP, Servus Credit Union, Co-operators, and Vancity.
