Strategic Plan/Operational Plan Update
At our 2019 Annual Gathering of Alberta Co-operatives Conference, we were proud to introduce ACCA’s new strategic plan. This plan is built around four areas of strategic focus:
Advance the Co-op Model: We will increase awareness of the co-operative model and its value proposition as a solution to address unmet social and economic needs in Alberta.
Create Connections: We will empower co-operatives through development of strategic partnerships and government relations activities.
Support the Co-op Sector: We will develop programs and initiatives to help our members employ best practices, increase efficiencies, and grow sales and membership.
Inspire Co-op Innovation: Through our leadership, we will help Alberta co-operatives respond to opportunities and challenges through innovation and research.
In our post-Gathering survey, 81% of respondents indicated the four areas of strategic priority resonated with them and there was overall support for the direction we are headed.
We also had great response to the question about what you need from ACCA, including support in creating co-ops; stronger advocacy with government; co-op leadership support; access to research data; and coordinated support and services, e.g. advertising.
Respondents also noted that we need to have more events, communicate more often, invite participation on ACCA committees, and to connect with our members on issues and get input and feedback.
With all this great feedback and support, it was time to start building out our operational plan.
Before the Christmas break, ACCA staff spent a full day locked in a room hashing out the details to move our vision forward. In the words of the ACCA Board of Directors, it is a pretty ambitious plan, but we’re confident we have the right people to get it done!
